Steven M. Shubert
CPA/Partner

Steve graduated from Temple University with a BBA in accounting with a  minor in economics and has been practicing public accounting since 1973. He is a member of  AICPA and PICPA. In addition to handling medical and legal practices, Steve is involved with closely held family businesses in the automobile, computer, and distribution industries. 

Steve and his wife Susan have two married children who are independent professionals and five fantastic grandchildren.

Philip B. Goodman

CPA/Managing Partner

Phil is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. A graduate of Abington High School and Temple University (BBA in accounting with a minor in economics), he has been practicing accounting since 1977. Phil obtained his CPA credentials in 1981, his CSEP (Certified Specialist in Estate Planning) credentials in 2015, and is a member of the AICPA and PICPA. Prior to beginning his own firm in 1983 he had work experiences with a large local CPA firm, a small CPA firm, and served as the controller of a regional construction firm. While not specializing in any particular industry, the common thread to his business client base (as for the firm as a whole) are that they own closely held family businesses or are the retired or next generations of those business’ owners. In addition to handling these clients accounting and tax needs, Phil is intimately involved with his clients’ estate and transition planning. He is also an author of books explaining accounting concepts to those without business backgrounds and a QuickBooks Users Guide.

Phil and his wife, Pennye, are the proud parents of three children (three independent college graduates). They both share their knowledge and expertise in leadership or advisory positions to various not for profit organizations. Their hobbies include traveling, attending live performances of the arts, and enjoying the great outdoors.

Jay A. Huttner

CPA/Partner

Jay has over thirty years of significant experience providing a wide range of advisory, assurance and tax services to a number of industries including manufacturing, distribution, real estate development, hospitality, service and retail entities.  In addition to business planning, financial due diligence and analysis, Jay’s experience includes compliance services, assisting clients with top hot plans for retention of key employees, succession planning, business acquisitions and/or sale of businesses. 

Jay is a member of the PICPA Local Tax and Legislation Committee and makes a significant contribution to the community as Treasurer and a Board member of Nor Wester Readers Inc. (a public charitable organization serving the educational environment) since 2009.  Jay previously served as a board member for a local credit union. Jay graduated from Temple University in 1979 with a BBA in accounting and he is a member of the AICPA and PICPA.

Jay and his wife Wendi have two children and live on a small horse farm in bucks county PA where they enjoy horseback riding and spending time with their Labrador retrievers.

Howard S. Litz

CPA/Partner

Howard has more than 30 years of experience working primarily with family owned businesses, including medical practices, engineering firms, wholesalers, and other professional service groups.

He provides businesses and individuals with income tax planning, compliance, representation before the Internal Revenue Service and Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.  Howard’s expertise includes consulting with clients on start-up situations, implementing bookkeeping systems and advising on retirement plans.

Howard is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He is an avid tennis player and has spent many years teaching tennis for the Special Olympics.  He enjoys spending time with his wife, two children and dog, Buddy.

Edward McKee

CPA/Manager

Ed joined the firm in 2016. He has over thirty years of experience providing advisory, assurance and tax services to numerous clients in diverse industries. A significant portion of his experience has been working with closely held businesses and their owners and nonprofit organizations. Ed graduated from Villanova University and is a member of the PICPA and AICPA. Ed and his wife, Anne, live in Doylestown and have two children.

Heather Brauer

CPA/Senior Associate 

Heather J. Brauer (Frederick) joined the firm in 2010 as a staff accountant. She received a Bachelors of Science in accounting from the Pennsylvania State University's Capital College in 2008, and gained her certified public accountant title in 2011. Her experience includes individual, business and non profit tax services and preparation, as well as compilations and reviews of financial statements. She is also a member of various audit teams at the firm.

Prior to joining Shubert Goodman and Huttner, Heather had two years of public accounting experience working in a similar role. She is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Additionally, in prior years, she served as a member of the PICPA Emerging CPAs committee. Outside of work, Heather enjoys riding and showing her horses as well as volunteering at a local animal shelter.

Richard Deuschle

CPA

Rich Deuschle joined the firm in 2017. A graduate of Penn State University. Rich taught high school Social Studies (economics, government, world history, and current events) before returning to school to earn his accounting degree. He earned his CPA credential in 2014. Rich has a variety of work experience in accounting and finance.

Prior to joining Shubert Goodman and Huttner, Rich was employed for three years in public accounting working on individual, business, not-for-profit, trust, and estate tax services as well as accounting and audit engagements. Additionally, he spent a year in corporate accounting as a Tax Analyst for a publicly traded healthcare company.

A lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area, Rich is a devout fan of all the Philly sports teams. He also enjoys going to the movies and trying the latest beers created by our local craft breweries.

Thaddeus Andraka

CPA

Thad joined the firm in September 2016. He graduated from Temple University in 2014 and earned his CPA credential in 2016. Since entering the workforce post-graduation, he has been employed in public accounting and obtained experience with various tax, accounting, and assurance services. He resides locally and during his free time enjoys sports, music, and PC gaming.

Janet Stabe

Office Manager

Janet is the firms Office Manager and has been with us for over 20 years. She earned her AA degree from Bucks County Community College, resides in Montgomery County and has two daughters.

She loves animals and has owned and shown horses most of her life, enjoys long walks with her dog, traveling, going to concerts and seeing Broadway shows.

She is definitely the "go to" person in the office.
